The Skye Commission

This car has been owned by a Mr. D from the Isle of Skye, in Wester Ross, Scotland. Skye is a truly beautiful place but to say the weather can be harsh would be an understatement with winds laden with sea salts which cause accelerated corrosion.

This Range Rover had practically dissolved but Kingsley's fabricating team of Steve (otherwise known as the Wizard of Rust) supported by Lee J were about to find some good metal to build from and the process of restoration began.

Once the bodyshell was restored we started 'future proofing' the Range Rover - we removed the bodyshell from the chassis, bare metalled the shell, prepared it for paint, seam sealing every joint in the structure from not only the inside but also the outside before rubberising the whole of the underside of the body before refinishing in Plymouth blue with an extra bit of sparkle for Mrs. D.

The chassis and axles were refinished over bare metal in Rustbusters award-winning Epoxy mastic 121
